You’ll find the authentic natural gem of Svartådalen in Nedre Dalälven, thirty kilometers south of Avesta. Svartådalen is one of Europe’s richest natural environments. The Svartån river still flows through here in its free, meandering path and every year, the river floods the flat landscape. It is in Svartådalen that you’ll find the Hälleskogsbrännan Nature Reserve, the area that in 2014 was the scene of the worst forest fire in modern Swedish history. In the summer, guided drop-in tours are conducted here. Guided tours are also arranged in the area for special interests, such as history or flora and fauna. There are also lots of nice accommodation options, fun activities and great cafés and restaurants in the area.
