The Brandbilsmuséet fire truck museum in Gysinge is owned by the Swedish Fire Nostalgia Foundation (Stiftelsen Svensk Brandnostalgi). More than 30 fire trucks and ambulances from the 1920s through today are exhibited on the bottom floor of the museum. Upstairs you will find – and this is unusual for fire truck museums – exhibitions on civil defense, civil protection, forest fires and disaster resources, as well as the police museum’s mountain rescue equipment, bomb-searching robot and police vehicles. There is also a play area with a fire station in a dollhouse. The museum’s younger fire trucks serve as extra resources in the Gästrike rescue services and are manned during forest fires and other emergencies by museum staff, who then become volunteer firefighters. Visitors are often invited on ride-alongs in fire trucks or fire crawler tractors if qualified drivers are not on duty at another fire station (more about that in our Products). Younger visitors can borrow fire helmets during the tour and try out gas masks. The guided tour can be combined with coffee at Café Udden by the Dalälven rapids or with lunch at Herrgårdens Orangeri. See our products below for more information about group pre-bookings. We follow the Public Health Agency of Sweden’s recommendations and only admit a limited number of guests into the museum at a time and only when there is an official on duty at the museum. Currently, there are no guided tours indoors and no testing of fire helmets, uniforms or gas masks. The play area is available for one family at a time. Admission is free, but donations are gladly accepted! We accept bookings for small groups (families, friends, etc.)
